Description

Lady Elgin was a 252 foot side wheel steamer that sank as a result of a collision with a schooner in a storm in 1860. This disaster resulted in a greater loss of life than any other on the Great Lakes. Of the 393 passengers listed on the manifest, only 98 survived. The wreck is broken up and lies in more than one location.
