PG Dive, located in Newton, MA, is a relative newcomer to the local dive scene, but has already made a huge impact in getting people excited about getting out and diving. They have a knowledgable and enthusiastic staff, and offer a number of great services including free refreshers and free air fills!

In addition to providing the service, sales, and training that you'd expect from a PADI facility, they also provide opportunities for advanced divers to get trained in mixed gas and decompression diving. They carry both established brands like Mares, Dacor, and Cressi Sub, as well as gear from highly regarded but harder to find manufacturers like Deep Sea Supply, Halcyon, and Green Force.

Their staff is active in the diving community too, and they frequently host social events like cookouts, seminars, and opportunities to try out cool new gear like backplate & wing setups or heads-up display masks in the pool. I've often heard it said that they're as much a local dive club as they are a store... except that there aren't any membership dues. They actively participate in the online diving forums too, and update their web site with new and interesting information regularly.

Creta Marris Dive Center (http://www.dive-cretamaris.gr) is situated in western Crete and its based at the grounds of an old big restaurant which means that it is v-e-r-y spacious (inside and ouside) allocating a lot of space to all the stages of diving. Huge area with tables for different groups, different area for intros, washing, etc...and all in the shop grounds (no sand on your feet yet). The management makes sure the staff knows the proceedures and where things are to be kept. A very usefull skill when you have to accomodate 50 divers coming for 2-3 different programs.

Furthermore, the instructor is very skillfull and a very good at his job -as a diver, leader, mentor and instructor-! The rest of the team is different every year and usualy from all over the world, as usuall. The trainees do have to work hard, but motivation is defently rewarded at the end of the season. The more you put in the more you gain!

Finaly Dive regulations are closely followed, all usuall certifications are recognised and an overall effective management makes the whole experience very plesant.
